“I don’t just work with materials-
I work with purpose, transformation and memory.”
‘Aquarium of tomorrow’-
Bank Australia
Through ‘Aquarium of tomorrow’ , I have reimagined marine life through the lens of our plastic-ridden reality. Every texture and species in this installation has been carefully handcrafted from 1000’s of discarded plastics scraps- materials found, forgotten, and thrown away. This work is both a tribute to the resilience of ocean life and a confrontation with the damage we’ve caused. By transforming everyday materials like PET bottles, takeaway boxes, carry bags, cling wraps, hard plastic containers, toys etc into such intricate forms, I aim to highlight not just the scale of plastic pollution, but also invites the viewers to reimagine their relationship with consumption and the environment. This aquarium doesn’t just display marine life but also reflects our choices, our consequences, and our capacity to change.
It is indeed an honor to be associated with an organization like Bank Australia, that already has strong ethical and sustainable values, while they launch their Parley cards made from recycled plastics. This is a great thoughtful initiative which can inspire and motivate people to take individual actions to reduce their plastic consumption.
